Where to enjoy an afterwork drink
We’ve had to wait a long time, but now we can finally enjoy an evening drink together with friends again. And as the weather is getting nicer, the best way to do this is outside in beer gardens or on bar terraces. Here are our favourites.
Café des Amis
Café des Amis is known across the city for its lavish brunch menu. Almost all ingredients used come from within the region. Miguel Castro and his team always avoid using products that come from large corporations. Whether it’s lunchtime or for dinner, the food should be fresh and local.

Kleine Freiheit
Residents of Zurich’s Kreis 6 have been enjoying their Kleine Freiheit, a small, alternative bar located in the Weinbergpark, since summer 2013. It’s run by Rea Zaverdinos and her right-hand woman, Anna Rotter. Together, the two women have turned the bar – which is open all year round – into an even more attractive venue, with sunshades, flowers and brunch.
Weinbergstrasse 30, 8006 Zurich
Bar am Egge
Swiss beer and young bands – Andy Grenacher and Regina Hürlimann make sure the people of Hottingen don’t get bored in the evenings. But outsiders also quickly feel at home when they pop into their bar.
Asylstrasse 11, 8032 Zurich
Talacker
Urs Mühlherr, Chris Schaad and Maja Kunzelmann have been running Talacker since 2004. It has become one of the most popular restaurants in district 1, partly because of its classic noodle soups and unique drink creations.
