The Urban Rambler is an influencer too

Text: Beni Frenkel

Zurich has loads of cool places that no-one has ever heard of. But fortunately we have influencers! They introduce us to these amazing places and provide us with useful product tips. Influencer Beni Frenkel lifts the lid on his everyday life.

Unfortunately, lots of people look down on influencers because they think we’re superficial and addicted to consumption. But I only promote products that I truly believe in, both ethically and morally. The products have to speak to me in some way.

One of the jobs of an influencer is to root out interesting hotspots and talk about products and places that no-one has heard of.

So today’s insider tip is Sihlcity shopping centre at the Allmend Brunau motorway exit. You can get there by bus and tram – or be classy and travel by train. I shop for all kinds of things at Sihlcity: clothes, groceries, chocolate, crisps and shoes.

Bras from Passionata are the perfect blend of erotic temptation, stretchiness and warmth.

My philosophy as an influencer is based on total transparency and Eastern values. I’m not keen on promoting clothes made by kids in sweatshops. That’s just how I am.

Bras, for example. I only buy them at Coop or C&A, because I know there was no child labour involved. I also think it’s important that bras are comfortable and don’t scratch your skin. Bras from Passionata are the perfect blend of erotic temptation, stretchiness and warmth.

But I think it’s really important to keep emphasising that even my body isn’t perfect. To be honest, I get lots of comments on Facebook.

Unfortunately, I suffer from ingrown toenails and calluses. That’s why I always recommend Scholl ointments to my followers. I buy them at a pharmacy on the first floor of Sihlcity. Sadly, ingrown toenails are still taboo in today’s society. But I think it’s really important to keep emphasising that even my body isn’t perfect. To be honest, I get lots of comments on Facebook.

In winter, my Instagram bucket list always includes a photo of these beautiful Christmas trees in Sihlcity! They look so gorgeous! I don’t know about you, but they make me think about all those wonderful raclette evenings!

Regrettably, a lot of people think influencers are as thick as two short planks.

Regrettably, a lot of people think influencers are as thick as two short planks. To fight this perception, we need a book – or lots of books. So I always head for the ground floor of the Lüthy bookshop. When you go in, on the right, there’s a rack called Top Books. An attractive sales assistant once told me you can’t go wrong when you pick a book from this rack. I’ve got his number!
